— PROVINCIALLY FUNDED SERVICES —

The Nova Scotia Health Authority as well as community resources provide a broad range of comprehensive services.  Your doctor can provide services independently and help you determine which services are accessible to you.  Services not covered by your government are listed and priced below.

Please book and appointment with Kathy or Linda to access our services.  If you are a patient, you may try and come to clinic as there are frequently no shows, though wait times and appointment is not guaranteed.

Keep in mind, the government covers a number of specific services.  Your optometrist (eye doctor) -an ophthalmologist rather than optometrist is a medical doctor with specialist training- and dentist can also give advice on these services.  Other health services can direct you accordingly.

- INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR VISIT -

Urgent visits will be assessed by the administrative staff and physician. We kindly ask that you do not repeatedly call the administrative staff (e.g. within one day) as this slows their and the physicians' work, delaying attention to patients' issues.

Specific information about your concerns, including your chief complaint, are required for an appointment. Mentally or physically compile information (within reason) about your chief complaint to your appointment. Let us know if there are forms that need to be completed. Let us know if a procedure needs to be completed (e.g. PAP test, liquid nitrogen or excisions).

Bring your most recent prescription list from your pharmacy. Ensure the physician and administrative staff know that you require a prescription refill. Booked an appointment at least one month before your prescription runs out.

Arrive on time.

Appointments should take approximately 15 minutes to address the most urgent issue. Any remaining time can be allotted to another issue. Another appointment will be scheduled at the physicians discretion. If you feel that I am not addressing the most urgent issue, we can have a discussion.

If you are traveling a long distance or have multiple or complex issues, schedule 30 minutes through the secretary.

Physicals, health exams or insurance forms require 30 minute appointments.

Counselling and stress management appointments require 30 minutes.

A procedure (e.g. liquid nitrogen or suturing) and one issue require 30 minute appointments.

The physician needs to assess you prior to any referral to a specialists. Specialists are in place to support family physicians in diagnostic and treatment dilemmas or complicated cases.

Tests and imaging are ordered based on guidelines and best practices.
